Pharmaq Chile will present strategies to promote more sustainable salmon farming

In collaboration with STIM Chile, the pharmaceutical company will hold the seminar 'Contributing to more sustainable health management: Update of productive and health strategies' in Villarrica-Pucón.

The Araucanía Region is called "the cradle of salmon farming". Taking advantage of its natural conditions suitable for aquaculture during the 1980s, it stood out for being a pioneer in the introduction of salmon farming in cultivation systems. Aware of their essential role in the industry, Pharmaq, part of Zoetis, will develop on August 22 in Villarrica-Pucón a seminar dedicated to presenting innovative strategies and solutions that allow the salmon industry to continue moving towards more responsible and sustainable production.

In collaboration with STIM Chile, the seminar "Contributing to more sustainable health management: Update of productive and health strategies", will highlight innovative approaches that contribute to establishing more sustainable aquaculture practices. In addition, it seeks to establish valuable connections with producers, professionals, operators, and fish health experts in the region, fostering an exchange of knowledge and experiences.

According to the information provided in a press release, this seminar is the third of the Pharmaqademy events scheduled for this year, in commemoration of the company's twentieth anniversary in 2024.

Julio Mendoza, general manager of Pharmaq Chile, highlighted that "we understand sustainability not only as a corporate goal but as an ethical responsibility. As a global company, one of our purposes is to promote more sustainable salmon farming, getting closer to our clients and delivering innovative solutions to the salmon industry through events of this kind".

The seminar program will include lectures on critical topics such as health management, fish welfare, SRS, smoltification, ALPHA JECT LiVac® SRS, preventive diagnostics in freshwater, and sustainability of the salmon industry, among others.
