Sverre Vormedal, who has lived in Rekjavik since 2021, has joined Benchmark Genetics after working for Arnarlax.

Former fish farmer joins Benchmark Genetics

Salmon ova producer and genetics services provider Benchmark Genetics has hired an experienced aquaculture professional as sales and technical manager for Iceland and the Faroes.

Sverre Vormedal, who was previously biological controller at Iceland salmon farmer Arnarlax, will work out of Benchmark’s office in Hafnarfjördur.

“I consider Benchmark to be a leading and innovative player in the aquaculture industry. I am particularly impressed with their achievements in genetics and fish health,” Vormedal said in a press release.

Vormedal brings a wealth of experience from various roles in the industry since 2011, encompassing both full-time and part-time positions during his studies. His diverse background includes work in service boats, fish farms, sales logistics, and quality management.

Solutions for productivity

He has an MSc in International Fisheries Management from the Arctic University of Tromsø (UiT) and a BSc in Economics from the University of Bergen. Additionally, he holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.

“I look forward to joining the commercial team at Benchmark, where I will be responsible for our genetics customers in Iceland and the Faroe Islands. I am excited to work closely with our customers, helping them find solutions that boost productivity and sustainability in their operations,” said Vormedal.
