Atlantic Sapphire harvested 670 tonnes of salmon in Q4
US fish farmer reports improved conditions at Florida facility
Atlantic Sapphire reported that in the three months ending December 31, 2024, it harvested a total volume of approximately 670 gutted weight tonnes (Q3 2024: 1,300 gwt).
Additionally, about 150 tonnes of small fish were sorted out to increase future harvest weight by adjusting the standing biomass to the current feeding capacity.
In the same period, net biomass growth was approximately 1,150 tonnes live weight (Q3 2024: 1,520 tonnes).
Standing biomass at the end of the period was 3,180 tonnes live weight (Q3 2024: 2,830 tonnes).
Total harvest volume for 2024 was approximately 4,400 gwt (2023: 1,545 gwt).
Stable water quality
"In the fourth quarter, biological conditions developed favourably with stable water quality and temperatures, low mortality, and increased slaughter weight as a result of operational measures to increase slaughter weight," the company said in an operating update.
The average realised slaughter weight in the quarter was 2.37 kg head on gutted.
"The company has adjusted the biomass to the current feeding volume and expects a further increase in average slaughter weight in the first quarter of 2025," it stated.
Atlantic Sapphire, which has a designed capacity of around 10,000 gwt in phase 1 of its Bluehouse facility at Homstead, Miami-Dade County, will provide more financial information in its annual report for 2024, which will be published on Thursday, April 23.
