The facility will be built near the town of Paragua, which is located by the Chacao Channel, 60 km from Puerto Montt.

The facility will also have what is described as a high-tech sludge treatment, which will transform the sludge into a by-product for the production of fertilizer for agriculture.

The geographical location is described as strategic since it allows direct loading to well boats.

The total investment for Cermaq will be approximately 100 million dollars.

AKVA group will complete the facility for Cermaq in Chile.

AKVA reports that they will start design and construction work during Q4 2024.

The value of the contract related to the letter of intent is for AKVA group about 30 million euros (approx. 350 million NOK).

The final contract is expected to be awarded by Cermaq during Q4 2024.

In a brief comment to LandbasedAQ, CEO of AKVA group, Knut Nesse says that AKVA has undertaken to take over a smolt facility that was started by Billund Chile.

"As a consequence of Billund's bankruptcy, AKVA has been engaged to complete the project. This will take about 30 months" Nesse says.

In a similar case here in Norway, AKVA group will also complete the construction of Årdal Aqua's facility.
