Kent Kongsdal Rasmussen has announced his decision to step down as chief executive of Norway-headquartered recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) supplier Pure Salmon Technology at the end of May.

Rasmussen’s tenure at the company, which is owned by land-based salmon farmer Pure Salmon and parent company 8F Asset Management, has been marked by significant milestones, including strategic acquisitions such as HyFlow and Billund Aquaculture.

“It has been an incredible journey, and I feel privileged to have been part of Pure Salmon and 8F Asset Management,” said Rasmussen. “We have achieved remarkable results, firmly establishing Pure Salmon Technology on the Norwegian as well as the global aquaculture map.

“With significant projects in Norway as well as an international project pipeline, and a solid aftermarket business, the company is well-positioned for future success. I look forward to my next professional chapter while cherishing the friendships and partnerships built over the years.”

An industry leader

Pure Salmon Technology said that under Rasmussen’s leadership it has cemented its reputation and position as an industry leader within the RAS industry, having offices in Norway, Denmark, Abu Dhabi and Australia. This has grown the company from 50 to 80 employees in Norway and Denmark plus employees in Abu Dhabi and Australia.

A key focus has been on recurring customers as well as attracting new customers, based on the company’s solid and proven design. Rasmussen’s strategic direction and commitment have played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and innovation.

Stephane Farouze, chairman and founder of 8F Asset Management and Pure Salmon, said: “I have greatly valued Kent’s leadership and the constructive collaboration we have had.

“His vision and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the company’s trajectory. Under his leadership, Pure Salmon Technology has achieved significant progress, and we remain committed to our ambitious plans. We have appointed Luke Kellgren-Parker, current chief operations officer, as the successor of Kent and are looking forward to him getting into the role.”

Luke Kellgren-Parker will be the new chief executive of Pure Salmon Technology.

Good transition

Pure Salmon Technology was born when Pure Salmon bought the Norwegian RAS division of KrĂĽger Kaldnes from international water and waste giant Veolia in 2021 so that it could have its own vertically integrated technology supplier. Pure Salmon Technology supplies both Pure Salmon and other customers.

Luke Kellgren-Parker, the new chief executive of Pure Salmon Technology, said: “I was originally recruited by Kent and have worked closely with him over the years and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to take up the role as CEO. Kent and I will work closely together in the coming months to make a good transition, and I plan to communicate in more details the leadership structure looking ahead.”

Pure Salmon plans to produce 260,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon annually in egg-to-package RAS plants with capacities of 10,000 and 20,000 tonnes located near population centres in different parts of the world.
